Sven Salumaa

Sven Salumaa ( born October 21, 1966 in Huntington, New York ) is a former American professional tennis player.

Life

The son of Estonian immigrants studied between 1984 and 1988 at Indiana University. He was a professional tennis player in 1989, where he specialized in the double. The following year he won in Rio de Janeiro, his first and only title on the ATP World Tour. In addition, he stood five more times in a double finals, including in 1991 at the ATP Championship Series tournament in Indianapolis and in 1992 at the Masters Series Miami and Indian Wells. Its highest listing in the tennis world ranking he reached in 1990 with position 516 in single and in 1992 with position 25 in doubles.

In the individual he was never able to qualify for a Grand Slam tournament. In the doubles competition in 1990 he reached the semi-finals of the U.S. Open. On the side of Brian Garrow he was defeated in five sets just the eventual tournament winners Pieter Aldrich and Danie Visser. In mixed, he reached the second round in each of the Australian Open, the French Open and Wimbledon.
