Switch pylon

A pole isolator is an electricity pylon which carries on its traverse over a long rod from the ground -to-use circuit breakers. A mast separator is a special form of the guy mast. It is used to unlock by cable branches of medium voltage cables (up to about 50 kV).

The disconnect switch, which must be carried out according to BG rules as switch disconnector is usually mounted in the middle of the traverse. There are also special designs, where the switch is directly on the mast, like a mast station, or mounted on a side of the lower traverse a concrete pole double-circuit line.

For voltages above 50 kV a circuit breaker for mounting on a pylon is too large, so that no pole disconnectors are used for lines with voltages above 50 kV.
