Syro-Malankara Catholic Major Archeparchy of Trivandrum

The Großerzbistum Trivandrum (Latin: Archieparchia Trivandrensis Syrorum Malankarensium ) is a location in the Syro- Malankara India Großerzbistum Catholic church located in Trivandrum ( Thiruvananthapuram today officially ).

History

Pope Pius XI. founded the archeparchy Trivandrum with the Apostolic Constitution Christo pastorum Principi on June 11, 1932. On December 16, 1996, lost part of its territory to the Eparchy Marthandom.

The archeparchy was raised on 10 February 2005 to Großerzbistum. Other parts of it lost on 2 January 2007 at the eparchy and Mavelikara on 25 January 2010 to the Eparchy of Pathanamthitta.

The Großerzbistum collected only the Syro -Malankara Catholics in the area. The there is also resident Catholics of the Latin Rite and the Syro -Malabar rite belong to other dioceses.
