The Madagascar - bat flower ( Tacca ankaranensis ) belongs to the family of Yamswurzelgewächse.

Distribution area

The species occurs in Madagascar, where it is endemic. They occur exclusively in the area of the limestone plateau of Ankarana in the north of the island, where the Ankarana Reserve is located in the province of Antsiranana. It is a forest plant and comes in rather dry habitats from sea level to about 500 meters above sea level before.

Description

The Madagascar - bat flower is a perennial herbaceous plant. The plant has the typical flower of Tacca with their long thread-like bracts. The bloom are held in this type in a shade of green and therefore more inconspicuous. This flower is on a leafless long stems. It forms in the roots thick rhizomes than outlasting. The leaves are arranged opposite one another and of irregular multi-finger shape.
