Tacrine is a reversible inhibitor of acetylcholinesterase and was approved in the U.S. as the first substance of this group for the treatment of Alzheimer 's disease (trade name: Cognex ®; Romotal ®). The drug leads to an improvement in cognitive performance. He acts indirectly parasympathomimetisch.
