Tagriss

Region

Tagriss is a rural municipality in the department of Dakoro in Niger.

Geography

Tagriss lies in the Sahel. The neighboring municipalities are Gadabédji in the north, Tarka the east, El Allassane Maïreyrey the southeast, Tchaké in the south, guidan Amoumoune in the southwest and Bader Goula in the West. The municipality is divided into 76 administrative villages, 47 traditional villages, 61 hamlets and six water points. The main town of the country church is the administrative village Tagriss (also: Tagriss Guidanbakoy ).

History

The French colonial administration set up 1947 a canton called Soli Tagriss, which was named after the villages solos and Tagriss. The capital of the canton was solos. 2002 went as part of a nationwide administrative reform from the Canton solos Tagriss the same area rural community Tagriss forth, now with the village Tagriss as its capital.

Population

At the 2001 census Tagriss had 34 053 inhabitants. For the year 2010 46.042 inhabitants were calculated.
