Taiko no Tatsujin

Taiko no Tatsujin (Japanese太鼓 の 達人) is a music game series by Namco. The first title was released in 2001 as an arcade machine. From 2002 conversions for home consoles have appeared: First, for the PlayStation 2, and later for PlayStation Portable (2005) and Nintendo DS ( 2007). There have been numerous publications in Japan and one in North America under the name Taiko: Drum Master. The player uses a simulated Taikotrommel controller to play the percussion instrument notes of a selected piece of music, as they appear on the screen. For the PlayStation 2, there is the Tatacon, which is a 1000 g heavier controller that looks like the top of a Taikotrommel and is sold with two rackets and a table stand. About Sensors beats can be divided into four areas: each right and left side of surface or frame. The version for the Nintendo DS uses the touchscreen. The versions for PlayStation Portable or Nintendo DS can be played by four players wirelessly together.

Game mechanics

Symbols move on a horizontally oriented axis and time indicate when the action must be performed. The home versions differ between single and double strokes, the arcade versions between hard and soft strokes.

In the Japanese version show subtitles to the pronunciation of sounds (for example, "do don do don " ) according to the traditional Kuchi shoga system (口 唱歌).

Despite its cute appearance the game is quite difficult. To succeed, the player must beat 75 % of the score create. The higher difficulty levels ( hard and Oni ) and modifiers such as hidden require a lot of skill and reading ability.

Good games filled on a bar. If at the end of the song is the display above a certain value, it is considered passed.

Music

The Japanese version includes J- Pop, Anime music, Western classical music, traditional Japanese festival music and video game tunes.
