Takeyuki Nakayama

Takeyuki Nakayama (Japanese中山 竹 通, Nakayama Takeyuki; born December 20, 1959 in Ikeda ) is a former Japanese marathon runners.

His first major success came in 1984 with his victory at the Nakayama Fukuoka Marathon. The following year he finished the first IAAF World Cup Marathon in Hiroshima second place behind Ahmed Salah, and won the invitational race at the Seoul International Marathon. In 1986, he won the marathon in Seoul Asian Games.

1987 won Nakayama again the Fukuoka Marathon, in which this time was held at the same time, the Japanese championship in the marathon. With his winning time of 2:08:18 hours, he scored a Weltjahresbestleistung. At the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul Nakayama went as one of the favorites at the start. At the end, he finished in 2:11:05 h in fourth place. In the third place, Ahmed Salah, he had only six seconds behind.

In 1990, Nakayama the Tokyo International Women's Marathon. The marathon race at the World Athletics Championships 1991, he was forced to retire prematurely. At the Olympic Games in Barcelona in 1992, he missed again just a medal. Just before the finish, he overtook the Germans Stephan clearance. However, this was countered again and referred Nakayama with just two seconds ahead of fourth place.

Takeyuki Nakayama is 1,80 m tall and had a competition weight of 57 kg. He was always a critic of the Japanese Athletics Association Nihon Rikuren and the structures of the university and professional running the sport in Japan. In addition, he used his career an intense rivalry with Toshihiko Seko, the figurehead of the Nihon Rikuren.
