Takushoku University

The Takushoku University (Japanese拓殖 大学, Takushoku daigaku, in short: Takudai (拓 大) ) is a private university in Japan. The main campus is located in Bunkyō -ku, Tokyo.

History

The university was (台湾 协会 学校, German " school of Taiwan Association" ) founded in 1900 by Katsura taro under the name Taiwan Kyōkai Gakko. He founded the school to form the settlers of Taiwan, because Taiwan was a Japanese colony in 1896. 1901 Today Bunkyō campus was opened. In 1904 the school was renamed in professional school of Taiwan Association, and in 1907 then in professional school of Toyo Association (东洋 协会 専 门 学校, Toyo - Kyōkai Semmon Gakko; Toyo referred to as East Asia ). In the same year she founded a branch school in Keijo (now Seoul), the state of commercial college Keijo was 1922. The association also founded several schools in the Japanese colonies, such as the foreign language school Ryojun and trade school Dairen (1910).

The school was renamed many times. The former name were:

  • The colonial trade school of Toyo Association (1915-1918),
  • Takushoku University ( Takushoku daigaku, literally " School of reclamation and colonization "; 1918-1922 )
  • Toyo - Kyōkai University ( " University of Toyo - association"; 1922-1926, in 1922, she received the university status ),
  • Takushoku University (1926-1946), and
  • The Koryo University (红 陵 大学; Koryo called the "red ( autumn colored ) hill " or Bunkyō campus; 1946-1952 ).

It was renamed in 1952 Takushoku University. The Bunkyō campus was too small, and the University opened in 1977 the second larger campus in Hachioji.
