Talissieu

Talissieu is a commune in the French department of Ain, in the Rhône -Alpes.

Geography

Talissieu is located at 250 meters above sea level. M., about twelve kilometers north of the town of Belley (air line). The village is located in the southeastern Bugey, in the valley of Séran at the southern foot of the Grand Colombier, on the edge of vast marshland Marais de Lavours.

The area of ​​4.80 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the Bugey. History

The territory of Talissieu was inhabited very early. In Ameyzieu remains were found of a Roman settlement and inscriptions. In the late 11th century, the area became the property of the monastery Nantua who founded a priory here. In the Middle Ages Talissieu was under the suzerainty of the Counts of Savoy. The Treaty of Lyon, the village came in 1601 to France. To a field change occurred in 1883 when the previously independent community Ameyzieu was incorporated into Talissieu.

Attractions

At the site of the former priory stands the church built in the 19th century in the Gothic Revival style.
