Tame Impala

Tame Impala is an Australian band from Perth. Musically, Tame Impala is based very heavily on the psychedelic rock of the late 1960s.

History

The five members occur mainly in the live performances together, while the studio productions are designed much of the head and the driving force of the band Kevin Parker. The musicians are also still active in other Australian bands.

The beginnings of Tame Impala are in school by Kevin Parker and Dom Simper, collectively referred to as 13 -year-old made ​​music for the first time. Kevin Parker was part of a circle of friends, brought forth its members in various formations bands like The Dee Dee Dums, GUM, Mink Mussel Creek, Pond, Space Lime Peacock, Rabbit Iceland and Tame Impala. Each played for each band, with more or less. After successes of the Dee Dee Dums as a student band in 2007 in the name of Tame Impala, named after the African antelope changed. Third member of the band the early days was the drummer Jay Watson. Under the band name was released in 2008 the first EP, which earned them first attention. For this purpose, they were discovered by international music managers and hired as the opening act for the Australia tour by artists such as MGMT and the Black Keys.

In May 2010, published Tame Impala 's debut album Inner Speaker. So they made it right away # 4 on the Australian album charts. The success they could also spread to Europe and the USA: In Belgium and the Netherlands, they also entered the album charts in the U.S. in the Heatseekers charts. The ARIA Awards 2010 they were nominated four times.

In 2012, Tame Impala presented the second album Lonerism done. Like the EP and the debut album, it was produced mainly by Parker alone. This was followed by an extensive tour through Europe and the United States. Meanwhile, for the performances were still Nick Allbrook and later Julien Barbagallo been added, so that the band performs live to fifth. In October of the year the album was released and again reached number 4 on the charts in their homeland as well as number 14 in the UK. At the ARIA Awards in 2013 they were again nominated several times and were able to win three awards: best band and Lonerism for Album of the Year and as the best rock album.

In addition, Kevin Parker is also active as a producer. He produced the debut album of his girlfriend Melody Prochet, to which he also contributed guitar sounds.
