Tami Kiuru

Tami Petri Antero Kiuru (* September 13, 1976 in Vantaa ) is a former Finnish ski jumper. He started for the ski club of the city of Lahti, Lahti the Hiihtoseura.

Career

The Finn began at the age of seven years with the ski jumping. He made his debut on 28 March 1993 at Planica Slovenia in the World Cup. Then it was not until the 1998/1999 season until the Finn came into existence again. This was also a heavy practice crash due in December 1995 in Lahti, where he a broken collarbone and a crack drew upon in one lung.

This fall and serious injury threw Kiuru of the season 1996/1997 bis 1998/1999 in the Continental back.

On 7 February 1999, he was in the Czech Harrachov with an eighth place his comeback in the World Cup. From this result, he won his first World Cup points.

In the following years it was used constantly in the World Cup team. His first podium he reached in the team competition at the Ski Flying in Planica on March 17, 2001 his first podium in the individual, a third place, he took almost exactly two years later, on 15 March 2003, on his home hill in Lahti. On December 14, 2003, he won his first and only victory in a single competition, as he won the severe conditions aborted after the first round World Cup at the Hochfirstschanze in Titisee -Neustadt.

On February 23, 2003 Tami Kiuru was at the Nordic World Ski Championships 2003 World Champion with the team on the large hill, a year later, he won silver in the team at the Ski Flying World Championships in Planica, reaching the individual bronze medal after he claimed the third had lain four scored rounds even in the lead.
