Tammam Salam

Tammam Salam Sa ʾ ib (Arabic تمام صائب سلام, born May 13, 1945 in Beirut ) is a Lebanese Sunni politician who is the prime minister of his country. He stands close to the pro-Western and anti-Syrian March 14 Alliance, but also has good relations with the alliance of March 8, which is also the Shiite Hezbollah belonging.

He is the son of former Prime Minister Saeb Salam and graduated from the Armenian Haigazian University. In the parliamentary elections of 1996 he was first elected to parliament, but lost his seat in the 2000 parliamentary elections and entered not for the 2005 elections. From 11 July 2008 to November 9, 2009, he was the successor of Tarek Mitri Lebanese Culture Minister in the Cabinet Fuad Siniora. Since the 2009 elections, he is again independent MP in the Lebanese Parliament.
