Tanana Valley

The Tanana Valley ( German: Tanana Valley ) is a lowland area on the Tanana River in interior Alaska.

The valley is the second largest city in the state, Fairbanks, the most densely populated area of Alaska north of the Alaska Range. Other villages in the Tanana Valley College are, Chena Hot Springs, Eielson AFB, Ester, Fort Wainwright, Fox, Manley Hot Springs, Nenana, North Pole and Two Rivers.

In the region formed by the surrounding mountains from valley frequent temperature inversions that lead to large temperature extremes during the year and in winter in deep fog. The permafrost soil of the valley is swampy and intersected by Pingo.
