History of the Tarot

The Taro (Latin Tarus ) is a non- navigable river in northern Italy. It rises on Mount Penna in the Apennines, crosses the Po Valley until after 126 kilometers north of Parma flows into the Po. Mainly it flows through it the Province of Parma in the Emilia -Romagna. At the height of Fornovo di Taro the Ceno flows into the taro.

About five kilometers west of Parma, the river is crossed by the Via Emilia.

After the conquest of Italy by Napoleon Bonaparte, the French taught a 1808 " Département Taro ". The Départment existed until 1814.

The approximately 20 -mile stretch of river between Fornovo di Taro and Ponte Taro at NOCETO was declared in 1988, the nature reserve " Parco Taro ". The area is characterized by numerous sand islands that are home to unique flora and fauna.
