Taroko-Nationalpark

The Taroko National Park (Chinese太鲁阁 国家 公园, pinyin Tàilǔgé guojia Gōngyuán, PEH oē - jī Taroko kok -ka kong - hng ) is one of eight national parks in Taiwan, located in the east of the island. He was named after the Taroko Gorge, which in turn was named after the Truku aborigines.

Location

The park is located in eastern Taiwan in the field of the two counties Nantou and Hualian, as well as on the urban area of ​​Taizhong. The area is 92,000 ha, of which 74,800 ha in the area of the village Xiulin (秀林 乡) in Hualian, 9500 ha in the area of Heping in Taizhong, and 7700 ha in Ren'ai (仁爱 乡) are in Nantou.

History

The Taroko National Park is the oldest national park in Taiwan. It was the first time on December 12, 1937 during the Japanese occupation period as Tsugitaka - Taroko National Park (次 高 タロコ 国立 公園Tsugitaka Taroko kokuritsu kōen ) built. At the time, the park also included the Xueshan with a total area of 270,000 hectares. The Second World War, the plans came to a halt, however. After the takeover by the Republic of China, the Park on 15 August 1945 was abolished and re-established only on 28 November 1986.

Attractions

The park is especially famous for its gorges and steep cliffs. In the park there are, among others, the following attractions:

  • Taroko Gorge (太鲁阁 峡谷, Tài lǔ gé Xia gǔ ) In it, the Liwu River (立 雾 溪), which eroded the marble layer, thus shaping the ravine flows. The prospect she is a famous landmark in Taiwan.
  • Tunnel of the nine turns (九曲洞, Jiǔqūdòng )
  • Shrine of the Eternal Spring (长春 祠, Changchun Cí ) This shrine was built in memory of the 212 deceased construction worker who came in the construction of the East-West highway killed.
  • Swallow Grotto (燕子 口, Yànzikǒu ) The name comes from the many small caves in the rock wall, where swallows have built their nests.

Traffic

Through the park, the provincial road leading 8 (中 横 公路, Zhong-heng Gonglu ), which connects the West with the East Taiwan. The Taroko Gorge can be reached via the following ways:

  • From Hualian station take a bus to the entrance of Taroko Gorge (journey time approx 60 min) and the last stop Tianxiang (90 min).
  • From the airport Hualian by car about 30 minutes.
  • From Xincheng Railway Station, the park is 3 km away.
