Tassilo

Tassilo - also written Thassilo - is a male first name West Germanic origin, based on a diminutive of the name Tasso / Tazzo (example for as -ilo/-ili into Althochdeutsche acquired Latin diminutive - illus, - illa, - illum ).

Tasso / Tazzo in turn is an abbreviation of Taginbert ( an occupied even in the short form Tago and the diminutive Tagino name). The name is Taginbert West Germanic origin and means " shiny as the day " or from celtic - dago (good) and Old High German beraht (glossy) composed. In the softer Frankish way of speaking, these names are also detected as Datzo / Dazzo or Scrooge. Known keywords, which go back to these names, are about Tagino of Magdeburg, the surname Datzmann or Tatzmann or the Austrian city of Tatzmannsdorf. The sometimes alleged derivation from the Latin taxus ( yew ) is quite unlikely.
