Tatbir

Tatbir (Arabic تطبير, DMG Taṭbīr, also Haidar, in the Indian space known as Talwar Zani and Zani Qama ) is a Shiite mourning ritual for the younger grandson of Muhammad, Husayn ibn ʿ Alī, who in conjunction with his children, companions, and close relatives of battle of Kerbala by the Sunni rulers Yazid I. martyred.

Tatbir is mainly committed on the 10th of Muharram, the day of Ashura festival. Traditionally, white-robed believers hurt with swords in the face, for flowing blood. Some scholars refer to the tradition as " un-Islamic ".
