Taura

Taura is a municipality in the western part of the Central Saxony Saxony. It is part of the joint management Burgstädt.

Geography

Taura is located 15 km north of Chemnitz and 15 km east of Limbach- Oberfrohna in the Saxon Granulitgebirge, which reaches a height of 347 m here. The municipality is bordered by the Wood Creek to the south, the east and the Chemnitz Cordieritgneisriff of Taura stone in the west.

History

The place name probably derives from the Slavic " tur". This means as much as Ur or aurochs. The place, although much older, first mentioned as Turowe documented only in the year 1378.

In the witch hunts from 1679 to 1681 in Köthensdorf four methods are in use for witchcraft and sorcery. Three witches trials ended with the release, a result is not known.

On 1 March 1994, the municipality Köthensdorf - Reitzenhain was incorporated, the 1909 was formed from the merger of two villages. Until January 26, 2000 was the official name of the municipality Taura b. Burgstädt.

East of the church runs the B 107 and south of the B 95 The community is also accessible via the A 4 (connections Chemnitz- Glösa or Chemnitz -Mitte).
