Weißohrturako ( Tauraco leucotis )

The Helmturakos ( Tauraco ) is a genus in the family of Turaco ( Musophagidae ).

They inhabit mainly the canopy of trees in forests and savannas in Africa and feed on, among others, young shoots, insects, berries and fruits.

The Helmturakos are long-tailed birds which reach a size between 35 and 45 centimeters. You have an erectile bonnet on his head. Their plumage is mostly metallic green and blue. Males and females do not differ in color and in the size of its kind within your flight feathers are dark red.

During courtship, the bonnet is raised and the flight feathers are spread apart to put himself on display.

The eggs are incubated by both parent birds up to three weeks and fed the young birds hatched from both parents.
