Taxman

August 5, 1966

Taxman (German: , tax collector ') is a song by British rock band The Beatles. Text and composition come from George Harrison, who also sang the piece. This song was released as the opening track on the Beatles album Revolver published in 1966. It was the first album of the Beatles, whose first composition was not from John Lennon and / or Paul McCartney.

Harrison wrote the song supposedly as an ironic response to the considered to be excessive by him marginal tax rates, up to 95 percent for high earners ( the Beatles earned all now over a million pounds a year ). Taxman was taken on 20 and 21 April 1966 in the Abbey Road Studios in London. Mixtures found on May 16, 1966, June 21, 1966 instead. The guitar solo was played by Paul McCartney. Harrison played the rhythm guitar, Starr headed drums and percussion with McCartney and the bassline, while Lennon accompanied the song on the tambourine. The backing vocals are from Lennon and McCartney.
