Techelsberg am Wörthersee ( Slow: Teholica whether Vrbskem Jezeru ) is a municipality with 2194 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the district of Klagenfurt-Land in Carinthia.

Geography

Geographical location

The territory of Techelsberg extends beyond the southern slope of the Ossiacher Tauern to the north shore of Lake Wörth. With the Forstsee one another lake to the municipality.

Techelsberg is divided into four cadastral St. Bartlmä ( Šentjernej na Gori ), St. Martin am Techelsberg ( Šmartin ), divided Tibitsch ( Tibiče ) and Trabenig - plane array ( Trabenče ). History

In the districts Ebenfeld, Trabenig, Hadanig, Arndorf and Saint Bartlmä was a Roman road.

The traditional since the mid-12th century settlement Tohelach took in the late Middle Ages, the name of the patron saint of the parish church of St. Martin am Techelsberg; its first documentary mention dates back to 1319th Today's Branch Church of St. Bartholomew in the village of St. Bartlmä was first mentioned in 1363. The Slovenian inscriptions from the Baroque period are significant monuments of Slovenian local and regional cultural history.

The parish of St. Martin covering herself up to 1848 with the western part of the district court Leonstein from him was constituted in 1850, the local church of St. Martin am Techelsberg. Apart from a Reversed My Dung from 53 ha to Velden 1973, the municipality remained constant to this day. The community name was changed in 1939 to " Techelsberg " and 1968 supplemented by the addition of " am Wörthersee ".

Population

According to the 2001 census has Techelsberg am Wörthersee 2059 inhabitants, of which 96.2 % have the German citizenship Austrian and 2.0%. 83.1 % of the population are Roman Catholic and 5.0 % to the Protestant church, belong to any faith to designate 8.3%.

Structures

  • The parish church of St. Martin, St. Martin am Techelsberg is situated slightly to the north of the village. The original Romanesque choir tower church was first mentioned in 1319. In the church important Slovenian inscriptions are obtained from the Baroque period.
  • The chaplaincy in Sankt Martin served as the chaplain apartment. The last chaplain was hired in 1854. Today, the chaplaincy is used for pastoral purposes. This house is built in block construction and can be estimated at an age of 500 years. The parsonage was provided on 30 July 2002 under monument protection.
  • Surrounded by cemetery walls Branch Church of St Bartholomew in St Bartlmä was first mentioned in 1363 and is a Gothic building with eastern ridge turret.
  • The branch church St. George in Tibitsch was first mentioned in 1616. The small Baroque building is equipped with a recessed polygonal choir and eastern ridge turret. In the church important Slovenian inscriptions are obtained from the Baroque period.
  • The Branch Church of St Vitus in Eben field is a simple building of the 18th century with a Christophorus fresco on the southern ship outside wall
  • The Chapel of St. Joseph in Tibitsch located in the forest east of Forest Lake. It was built in 1958/59, has a steep gable roof and is home to numerous votive paintings and carved figures of the 19th century.
  • The Tschachonigkreuz on the eastern edge of Arndorf was built around 1499. It is the largest niche shrine of Carinthia with a height of about 8 m and a Tabernakelbreite of 2 m. Four large niches with images of St. Martin, Christ on the cross, the Virgin and Child, the mystery vine, angels and saints. The gable roof is covered with the round spruce shingles, topped by a star with the monogram of Christ, IHS. The precious shrine was provided on 17 February 1993 under special preservation.
  • The power plant Forstsee is a hydroelectric power plant that has gone the first storage power plant in Carinthia in operation in 1925. The planned by Franz Baumgartner power house, located on the shore of Lake Wörth, since 1998, is a listed building. Operators of the power plant is KELAG.

Marble quarry

Coat of arms
