Techtronic Industries

Techtronic Industries Co. Ltd.. (TTI ) is a Chinese group that develops especially power tools for DIY and professional construction sector, as well as electrical appliances, designed, produced and marketed. The headquarters of TTI is located in Hong Kong. TTI is behind Black & Decker and Bosch, the world's third largest manufacturer in the industry. The TTI shares are listed since December 1990 on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange ( HKEx ), as well as the Level 1 ADR program in the U.S. tradable ( HKEx stock code: 669, ADR symbol: TTNDY ).

Initially TTI was only contract manufacturer of batteries and battery-powered devices for the cheapest brands of major U.S. retail chains (eg for Sears, Roebuck & Co.). Later TTI also acquired the rights to several renowned brands, but for cost reasons then shifted their production largely to the Chinese hinterland ( Pearl River Delta ).

Line

The company was founded in May 1985 by Horst Julius Pudwill ( time since the 1970s, sales and marketing representative for VW in Asia ) and the Chinese Roy Chi Ping Chung. Horst Pudwill was until the end of 2007 both the CEO and Chairman. Since January 2008, the two offices are separated: Horst Pudwill will remain Chairman, the new CEO is Joseph Galli junior.

The shops of Techtronic Industries are divided into two thematic areas:

  • Power Equipment (Power Tools, including Power Tools): Turnover ( 2011) 2.7 billion U.S. $, corresponding to 72.6 % of total sales
  • Floor Care ( Floor cleaning equipment ): Turnover ( 2011) U.S. $ 1 billion; Share 27.4 %

The largest shareholders of TTI are ( as of the end of 2006 ) JPMorgan Chase & Co. (7.38 %) and the Commonwealth Bank of Australia (7.05 %).

Brands

  • AEG ( AEG Electric Tools GmbH, Headquarters: Winnenden near Stuttgart); one of the remaining companies of the former AEG Group, the beginning of 2005 together with Milwaukee (see below) taken over by the previous owner of Atlas Copco; previously trading as A & M Electric Tools GmbH (A stands for AEG, M Milwaukee ), Hilden: worldwide, the company employs over 1100 employees in production and in their own sales. In Winnenden there are still around 450 received from former over 2000 jobs; where the development department is located and are mainly still in production drilling hammers, also under the brand Milwaukee. The bulk of other production ( mostly known AEG drills ) but was moved to China. Other European production facilities are located in Nýřany in the Czech Republic.
  • Milwaukee (Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation, headquartered Brookfield (Wisconsin ), United States): 1924 by the former NCR employees Albert F. Siebert ( 1879-1960 ) from the remains of the bankrupt had become by fire AH Petersen Manufacturing Company in Milwaukee ( Wisconsin, USA ) was founded. The Milwaukee Electric Tool Corporation has approximately 3,000 employees worldwide and numerous production. Bought together with AEG power tool division in January 2005, the Atlas Copco.
  • Ryobi Group: Japanese machinery and equipment manufacturer ( Aludruckgusserzeugnisse, power tools, garden appliances, building hardware, printing machinery ); Founded in 1943, with about 5800 employees and a turnover of 18.472 million yen ( approximately 1.2 billion euros ), the largest cordless tool manufacturers in the world. Gradual acquisition by TTI since 2000.
  • Homelite (Headquarters: Anderson (South Carolina ), United States ): Founded in 1921 by Charles H. Ferguson in Port Chester, New York U.S. State, under the name of Home Electric Lighting Company. Produced esp. electrical garden equipment ( leaf blowers, brush cutters, grass trimmers, chain saws, pressure washers, etc.). Taken over in 2001.
  • Stiletto ( Stiletto Tool Company, Head Office: Winton (California ), United States): mainly produces mechanical hammers, including those made of titanium. Acquisition by TTI 2007.
  • Hoover USA (headquarters: former North Canton (Ohio ), since taking over in Glenwillow (Ohio ), USA): produces floor cleaning equipment. Founded in 1908 by WH Hoover and Murray Spangler. TTI took over the U.S. division of Hoover ( with trademark rights for North and South America, most of the Middle East, Africa and most of Asia ) January 1, 2007 of the Company Whirlpool Corporation. The rights in Europe and the Mediterranean countries is continuing the Italian Candy Group. Sales of about 600 million U.S. dollars. Approximately 3,000 employees.
  • Dirt Devil ( floor cleaning equipment ), Royal ( floor cleaning equipment ), Regina, Vax ( floor cleaning equipment ), Second Nature, Nomad, Medisana ( blood pressure monitors, and others): Vax was bought in 1999, the acquisition of Dirt Devil and Royal ( Royal Appliance Mfg. Co. . ) was 2003. trademarks mentioned together with Hoover TTI Floor Care USA division
  • DreBo ( DreBo Tool Factory GmbH, Altshausen, Baden- Württemberg) is a leading manufacturer of carbide tipped tools for stone and concrete processing, including carbide drill bits, hammer drill, drill bits and hole saws. Founded in 1979, acquired by TTI in January 2005 (together with AEG and Milwaukee ).

The products are made except under those marks even under numerous trademarks (eg for The Home Depot ), and even for some brands of competing companies.
