Teck Railway

The Teckbahn is a standard gauge branch line in Baden- Württemberg. It branches off into Wendlingen of the railway line Plochingen -Tübingen and via Kirchheim unter Teck to Oberlenningen. In the course book Deutsche Bahn has the number 790.81 (from Kirchheim ) or 790.1 (S -Bahn to Kirchheim ).

History

The section of Wendlingen (then Unterboihingen ) about Ötlingen to Kirchheim was taken as the first private railway in Württemberg into operation on 21 September 1864. Licensed operator was the Kirchheimer Railway Company. Effective January 1, 1899, the Royal Württemberg State Railways took over the rail, which took the extra time to Oberlenningen into operation on 1 October of the same year. On September 15, 1908, the KWSt.E opened a branch line from Kirchheim to Weilheim.

In 1975, the track was pivoted in the range from Kirchheim widely abandoned downtown near the train station and moved further south to the outskirts. On the site of the old station, the shopping center Teck Center was built, the route was discontinued overbuilt including through the Stuttgarter Straße.

By December 2009, traveled on the single track, non-electrified track regional trains of DB Regio AG; they perverted by Wendlingen to Kirchheim twice an hour and from there to Oberlenningen once an hour. Morning and evening trains were partially bound to Plochingen. This alternating diesel railcars of series 650 and locomotive-hauled trains were used (consisting of a diesel locomotive class 218 and three n- trolleys). The vehicles were powered by the DB ZugBus Regional Alb -Bodensee.

The requirements for the connection of Teckbahn at the Stuttgart S -Bahn network and thus to extend the S- Bahn line S1 of Plochingen about Wendlingen to Kirchheim unter Teck existed for a long time. After several years of planning finally was able to complete as authority for the rail transport with Deutsche Bahn AG in early 2008, construction and financing agreement, the Verband Region Stuttgart. Then the distance between Wendlingen and Kirchheim from July 2008 was electrified and modernized until the opening of the timetable change in December 2009, with two road closures were necessary in each case during the summer holidays. In a two-pronged Wendlingen unloading, from the railway Plochingen -Tübingen was created because there intersect the S-Bahn in the rule, and that they can stick to the direction platforms. To rectify the trains a new parking area was created in Kirchheim.

Presence

On 13 December 2009, the extension of the S1 Plochingen to Kirchheim unter Teck was put into operation. Since then Wernau, Wendlingen, Ötlingen and Kirchheim be served by half-hourly electric railcars of Class 423. Until Kirchheim the route is electrified and extended for a maximum speed of 100 km / hr. Kirchheim is thus interchange towards Oberlenningen. There is an hourly service with diesel railcars 650 of the DB Regional ZugBus Alb -Bodensee series between Kirchheim and Oberlenningen. On this section the speed limit to 60 km / h or less.

Transport authority for regional and commuter train traffic on the Teckbahn is the Verband Region Stuttgart ( VRS). The section from Kirchheim to Oberlenningen is next to the cobbler web, the second regional connection in VRS responsibility. Previously, however, the transport company in Baden -Württemberg ( NVBW ) was responsible for the orders to the total distance.

Between Wendlingen and Kirchheim the route is secured by light signals and controlled by two signal boxes in Wendlingen and Kirchheim. The section Kirchheim- Oberlenningen is secured by the train control.

Freight traffic also plays an important role on the Teckbahn. Trains run several times a day Scheufelen in Oberlenningen and several times a week to a scrap dealer to Dettingen unter Teck. The freight station in Oberlenningen station is - for a branch line - relatively large. There own diesel shunter V series is 60 stationed, to compile new trains and to maneuver the car.

Freight traffic is now handled exclusively by diesel locomotives of the series 294. The previously used series 218 is no longer used since 11 December 2009 as scheduled on the Teckbahn.

Planning

The route from Kirchheim to Oberlenningen should also be modernized to produce in Kirchheim better connections to the S -Bahn can. These include raising the maximum speed and the technical safety of level crossings. Concrete plans but there is no currently.
