Río Motagua

Teculutan is a place and a municipality in the department of Zacapa in Guatemala. Teculutan is located 121 km northeast of Guatemala City and 28 km west of Zacapa on the Atlantic Highway CA 9 m height to 245.

The 273 km ² large municipality extends to the northwest Zacapas from almost 3,000 m high main ridge of the Sierra de las Minas in the north to the valley of the Río Motagua in the south. In this direction it is crossed by Río Teculutan and its tributaries. It has a total of almost 20,000 inhabitants, of whom the majority are Ladinos. The municipality is next to the main town Teculutan from the three " rural communities " ( Aldeas ) San Antonio, Vega Coban and San José and 27 hamlets. The people live mainly from agriculture, the crafts and services. In the southern lowlands of many industrial businesses have settled along the Atlantic Highway.

Adjacent Municipalities are Río Hondo on the east, in the southeast Estanzuela, Huité in the south and Usumatlán in the southwest. In the northwest Teculutan adjacent to the Department of El Progreso and to the north of Alta Verapaz.
