Ted Naifeh

Ted Naifeh ( born June 20, 1971) is an American cartoonist and author. His best known works are Gloomcookie and the Eisner Award -nominated series Courtney Crumrin.

Life

Naifeh began in 1990 in the comic area to work as a draftsman. His first published work was an adaptation of the novel Shadow of the Torturer for Innovation Comics, which was discontinued after three of six issues. Other early works of Naifeh are The Machine ( for Dark Horse Comics ) and the illustrated short story The Grease Trap along with science fiction author Joe R. Lansdale on Mojo Press.

The mid-1990s left Naifeh comic industry and worked as a graphic artist for Accolade, a video game company. In 1998 he returned to the comics and he began to work on Gloomcookie, a comic book series with writer Serena Valentino. Gloomcookie is a collection of related short stories that have played in the goth subculture. Ted Naifeh designed the first 6 issues of the series. After the series of John Gebbia (Issue 7-12), Breehn John Burns (issue 13-17), Harley Sparx (issue 18-23 ) and Vincent Batignole was continued. Gloomcookie appears at Slave Labor Graphics.
