Tennis at the 2012 Summer Olympics – Men's singles

Tennis men's singles of the Summer Olympic Games in 2012.

Defending champion was the Spaniard Rafael Nadal, who, however, did not compete due to an injury to defend their title. Played on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon from July 28 to August 5, 2012. A total of 64 players from 34 countries took part in this tournament.

By the semi-finals, the tournament went on to the victory of the Japanese Kei Nishikori on the set at position four Spaniard David Ferrer in the second round with virtually no major surprises. In the semi-finals Andy Murray defeated Novak Djokovic the favorite, while Roger Federer prevailed in the decisive third set with 19:17 after four hours and 26 minutes against Argentina's Juan Martín del Potro. In the match for bronze del Potro won in straight sets against Djokovic and won becoming the first male tennis player of his country an Olympic medal. In the final, Murray took revenge for his final defeat shortly before the Grand Slam tournament of Wimbledon: without dropping a set defeating the Swiss Federer and secured the gold medal, Federer won silver.
