Teplička nad Váhom

Teplička nad Váhom ( until 1927 slovak " Teplička "; Hungarian Vágtapolca - to 1907 Teplicska ) is a town in central Slovakia Kraj Žilina.

Geography

The place is in Žilina boiler ( Žilinská kotlina ) at the Waag at an altitude of 356 m at the foot of Kischützer heights ( Kysucká Highlands ) about 5 km from Žilina away.

History

The first written record was in 1267, when Toplucha. The name is intended to indicate thermal springs, which, however, were probably destroyed in the 17th century.

Between 1980 and 1990 she was a part of the city of Žilina.

Attractions

Worth seeing are a Renaissance castle from the late 16th century and the church of St. Martin from 1589 In this small church the mummified remains of the Hungarian countess Zsófia Bosnyák were. (1609 - 1644), the former mistress of the castle Strečno before the remains were burnt on 2 April 2009 by a mentally ill man and eventually burned.

Economy

The municipal area is a part of the great Kia plant Kia Motors Slovakia.

Traffic

There is a railway station on the route Košice - Žilina, which leads here about the Waag.
