Tešedíkovo

Tešedíkovo ( until 1948 slovak " Pered "; Hungarian Pered ) is a municipality in Okres Šaľa within the Nitriansky kraj in Slovakia with about 3,800 inhabitants.

Geography

The municipality is located in the Slovak Danube lowland, seven kilometers south of the city Šaľa.

History

The town was first mentioned in a document from the years 1237-1240 as Purud writing.

Until 1919 the town was in the Pressburg county within the Kingdom of Hungary and came afterwards to the newly formed Czechoslovakia. 1938-1945 it belonged on the basis of the First Vienna Award again to Hungary.

In 1948, the site of national political reasons was renamed after Samuel Tešedík in Tešedíkovo.
