TestPartner

Test partner is a tool for test automation for functional testing of software from Micro Focus. It is used for dynamic regression tests. The aim of the tests are applications with a graphical user interface ( GUI). While HP dominates the market for commercial test software with a share of 65%, Borland, Micro Focus and IBM almost all the remaining market share.

TestPartner records user actions and can play them back at a later date. Further testing partner testing COM objects before a GUI of the application is available.

Test method

Test partner offers two modes for the development of test cases: visual test and test scripts. The Visual Test is a visually easily understandable, storyboard - based approach. This function cuts in the recording per test step with each window of the application while running and the user (s) action (s). Later, the test can be changed without the application under test has to be available. When testing scripts VBA code is generated when recording.

In both modes, it is possible to modify test cases by, for example, Loops, branches or checkpoints are inserted. External test data can be addressed. This test approach is called Data-Driven. Test partner also allows the keyword-driven testing approach.

Development and system environment

It supports various development environments, among others. NET, Sun Java (Java SE 6 ), SAP GUI for Windows 7.10 and SAP Web Application Server.

The software runs on standard PCs running various versions of Microsoft Windows. It supports several databases including MS SQL Server, MS Access and Oracle. The database server can run under Unix.
