The Dave Clark Five

The Dave Clark Five ( DC5 ) were a British music group in the mid- 1960s was successful. They were one of the few bands that could come close to the commercial success of the Beatles.

History

The Dave Clark Five were in their successful occupation of Dave Clark ( drums), Mike Smith (keyboards, vocals), Lenny Davidson (guitar), Rick Huxley (bass) and Denis Payton (saxophone ).

The group had a string of hits, including Glad All Over, which displaced the Beatles in January 1964 from position 1 on the British charts. Characteristic of the early records of the band were a tight rhythm and a protruding acoustic drums. She was especially popular in the U.S., where she played to sold out halls and was 18 times on the Ed Sullivan Show as a guest.
