The Faith (American band)

The Faith was an American hardcore punk band from Washington, DC, which belonged to the environment by Dischord Records.

Band History

The band formed in the summer of 1981. It involved Alec MacKaye, former lead singer of the Untouchables and Michael Hampton from State of Alert on guitar. After a demo was recorded, a split LP with Void appeared on Dischord Records. The album contained the song You're X'd, who took up the straight edge philosophy of MacKayes older brother Ian ( Minor Threat, Dischord Records).

In 1983 a 12 '' extended play called Subject to Change, which was produced by Ian MacKaye. With a second guitarist, the band became more melodic songs. A few months after the release, the band broke up and three of the five members founded with Ian MacKaye, the band Embrace. Guitarist Eddie Janney joined Rites of Spring and later founded with Michael Hampton One Last Wish. Alec MacKaye later sang at Ignition and The Warmers.
