The Great Society (band)

The Great Society was the first band of Grace Slick, the later singer of Jefferson Airplane. The cast also included her then- husband Jerry and her brother Darby.

The band was founded in 1965 quickly established himself in the early hippie scene of the San Francisco Bay Area. So playing The Great Society more often in the matrix, the nightclub of the Jefferson Airplane founder Marty Balin -, and released the single Someone To Love / Free Advice.

After Grace Slick succeeded in late 1966 the Jefferson Airplane singer Signe Anderson, The Great Society is dissolved. Nationwide, the band gained fame only after their resolution: The Darby and written by Grace Slick songs Somebody to Love and White Rabbit were in 1967 in the version of Jefferson Airplane to chart success. Columbia then issued two albums in 1968 the Great Society - predominantly with live recordings from the Matrix: How It Was and Conspicuous Only In Its Absence.
