The McLaughlin Group

The McLaughlin Group is a political discussion program on American television under the direction of the moderator John McLaughlin.

The panel consists of the fixed interlocutors John McLaughlin (moderation and discussion leader), Eleanor Clift ( Newsweek ), Pat Buchanan ( MSNBC ), Tony Blankley (The Washington Times) and a guest together.

Tony Blankley worked for several prominent Republicans in an exposed position, including as a speechwriter and " Political Analyst " for Ronald Reagan, as well as a spokesman for the former speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich.

Pat Buchanan had worked in the administration of Republican President Richard Nixon as an advisor and speechwriter for the President, applied initially several times unsuccessfully for the nomination of a presidential candidate of the Republicans. In 2000 he was a candidate, which in contrast to the neo-conservatism referred to himself as " paläokonservativ " for the Reform Party, which was after the resignation of Ross Perot before the split and nominated two candidates ( Buchanan and John Hagelin ). Buchanan was recognized by the Election Commission as a candidate and received around 450,000 votes or 0.4 %.

Eleanor Clift represents the left - liberal positions. This agrees very strongly with the line of their employer ( Newsweek ) match.

The changing each guest also represents left, liberal or centrist positions, some with a similarly strong ties to the Democrats (especially Lawrence O'Donnell ) as Blankley to the Republicans. The list of guests is very short, many guests often come back or even weeks and months constantly present (such as Lawrence O'Donnell ). Lately Arab colleagues were to programs that deal mainly with the situation in the Middle East, invited.

Currently, she is most affiliates of PBS and some of NBC and CNBC Europe, U.S. Armed Forces Television and VoA News ( formerly WorldNet ) broadcast.
