The Qemists

The Qemists is a drum and bass band from Brighton, UK, which is currently the independent label Ninja Tune, based in London under contract. The band consists of members Dan Arnold, Leon Harris and Liam Black.

History

The Qemists were originally a drummer, bassist and guitarist in a rock band of the 1990s. Already there they spent a lot of time with tours in UK and Europe, as well as the recording of songs in recording studios. In the late 1990s the band became interested more and more for drum and bass, but at the same time based radio stations began early songs of the Qemists play. This was followed by many years in which they occurred on the day of a rock band, while at night they took up drum and bass or laying on in clubs. Due to this fact, the current sound of the Qemists, a mix of rock and drum and bass developed.

Their first release under Ninja Tune was a remix of Coldcut song " Everything Is Under Control ". They were supported by Zane Lowe, Coldcut and Pendulum.

Some singles of the band were also used in video games and movies. Their first single stompbox is in MotorStorm: Pacific Rift, Need for Speed ​​: Undercover and Midnight Club: Los Angeles, Lost Weekend in Colin McRae: Dirt 2, Forza Motorsport 3, MotorStorm: Arctic Edge and Need for Speed: find shift. In addition Stompbox was included in the soundtrack of the film Jumper.

In the summer of 2010 her album Spirit appeared in the system, on the song Take it Back was heard, which was recorded in collaboration with Enter Shikari. This song is released on April 4th, 2011 as a single.

The video for the single was already released in late February and this was recorded in an old abandoned department store in the North West of England. In the video you can see a post Apocalyptic area, in which the two bands come back to their senses and which is explored and recorded.

Music style

Because the origin of the band in the heavy metal scene and rock elements in their songs the Qemists are often the mainstream Drum and Bass assigned and compared with bands like Pendulum.
