The Smurfs live in Smurf Hausen, her hometown in " Enchanted Land". Schlumpfhausen is ruled as " Schlumpfokratie " without further state organs. Papa Smurf takes a fatherly leader perceive a kind of mayor function and stands out from the other Smurfs by his white beard and his red clothes off. Grandpa Smurf wears a long white beard and yellow clothes, the other Smurfs are beardless and, with the exception of the Smurf Toys, mostly dressed in white and wearing a Phrygian cap. The distinctive personalities, however, are determined visually on their skills. Smurfs are always male and are not born, but brought by storks. Female Smurfs Smurfette as, Omaschlumpf and Sasette can only result from a spell, applied to blue clay.

Means of transportation are storks, with those long distances can be covered. Later, especially the younger Smurfs ( " Smurf Coins" ) serves the Dog " Welpi " as a means of transportation. Most Smurfs live in hollowed-out mushrooms that are set up like houses. The Smurf language is the pidgin language of the Smurfs, which is a mixture of original elements and the respective broadcasting language. In it, the word stems of verbs, nouns and adjectives by the stem will " smurf" replaced ( in other countries in accordance with, for example, by " pitufo " or " smurf "). Synchronization

Between 1983 and 1984 were 52 episodes of the Smurf series, aired under the direction of Rudolf Krause on ZDF. After two seasons the show was canceled and taken over by Tele 5. There was a new synchronization and a new scoring the opening credits by Eberhard Cronshagen. The Tele 5 - synchronization corresponds to the present known as the old ZDF synchronization is largely forgotten. Responsible for this better-known version was the Planet Wave Studios in Hamburg, which synchronized the most ancient Tele -5- cartoons. Many well-known speaker ( Helmut Weinzierl, Andreas von der Meden, Kurt Goldstein, Gottfried Kramer, Jens Wawrczeck ) borrowed characters from the Smurfs their vote, as opposed to the original, in which more often a spokesman for different voices took over. Noteworthy are also the almost complete lack ( " smurf ", " schlumpfig ") of the Smurf language in favor of a neutral High German, and the - so that the voices are not alienated particularly marginal high Pitschen of votes - compared to the original as well as the ZDF version effect. While synchronization can be described as quite successful, the translations of the episode titles are but sometimes a bit confusing, since one has translated the title literally, but this does not always makes sense, and at least in one case is completely wrong
