Theo Mackeben

Theo Mack Eben ( pseudonyms: John Morris, Red Roberts, born January 5, 1897 in Prussian Stargard, West Prussia, † January 10, 1953 in Berlin; pronunciation: [ teo make ː bn] ) was a German pianist, conductor and composer of many well known stage and film scores.

Life

Theo Mack Eben's father was transferred as an administrative officer in the Prussian army and Director of the garrison administration frequently, his older brother William Mack Eben was born in Minden. After graduating from high school in Koblenz Theo Mack Eben studied from 1916 to 1920 at the Cologne University of Music in Warsaw and music. Until 1922 he was a concert pianist, among others, to that of the violin virtuoso Leopold Przemislav page. Then he went to Berlin, where he, inter alia, played megalomania in Pink Valetti piano in the cafe, and later in the dance orchestra of Barnabás of Géczy at the Hotel Esplanade. He was also stage Kapellmeister at the Volksbühne, later principal conductor of the National theater. 1928 he taught at the Theater am Schiffbauerdamm the premiere of The Threepenny Opera. In the era of National Socialism Mack Eben wrote in addition to music for entertainment films, including the soundtrack to the propaganda films patriots, Ohm Krüger and anti-British colonial film Germanin.

After the end of World War II plane Mack was from 1946 for two years musical director at the Berlin Metropol Theater.

Mack Eben's most successful works are the modernization of Millöckers operetta Countess Dubarry, which he brought out in 1931 under the title The Dubarry and in which he the song, I grant my heart only you alone - your own original composition - einfügte, as well as the soundtrack to Bel Ami.

Theo Mack plane was buried in the cemetery Wilmersdorf. His life was shortly after his death in 1954 at the Movies With you it was always implemented so beautiful on film.
