Theobald II of Blois

Theobald II (French: Thibaud; * 980, † July 11, 1004 ) was a Count of Blois, Tours, Chartres, Châteaudun, Beauvais, Reims and Dreux, Lord of Chinon and Saumur. He was a son of Count Odo I ( † 996 ) and his wife Bertha of Burgundy ( † after 1010).

About Theobald little is known. He grew up with his brother Odo at the court of his stepfather, King Robert II the Pious, on. Although Theobald was the principal heir of the most powerful royal houses of France, he seems to have gone for a clerical career. Together with his mother and brother he is mentioned in a deed of gift to the Abbey of Bourgueil from the year 997. Theobald died on a pilgrimage to Rome and was buried in the Abbey of Saint -Pierre -en -Vallee at Chartres.
