Théodore-Adrien Sarr

Théodore -Adrien Sarr Cardinal ( born November 28, 1936 in Ile de Fadiouth, Senegal ) is Archbishop of Dakar.

Life

-Adrien Sarr Thedore, one of seven siblings, was educated at the seminaries of Hann and Sébikhoutane philosophy and Catholic theology. Sarr received on 28 May 1964, the sacrament of Holy Orders by Hyacinthe Thiandoum. Then he was sent for further studies at the University of Dakar, where he graduated with a licentiate Classical Languages ​​in the tray.

Sarr became involved in Catholic Action and worked as a pastor in the parish of Saint -Thérèse. Later he became a professor at the seminary of N'Gasobil and 1970, finally rain this seminar.

On July 1, 1974, he was named by Pope Paul VI. Bishop of Kaolack. The episcopal ordination took place on 24 November of the same year in Kaolack. Théodore -Adrien Sarr is President of the Episcopal Conference of Senegal, Mauritania, Cape Verde and Guinea- Bissau as well as first vice president of the Symposium of Apostolic Conference of Africa and Madagascar. On February 14, 2009, he was named Benedict XVI. also delegated to the President held in October of the same year Special Assembly for Africa of the Synod of Bishops.
