Theodoric I, Margrave of Meissen

Dietrich, called the Harried (* 1162, † February 18, 1221 ) was Margrave of Meissen from 1198 and from 1210 as Dietrich III, Margrave of Lusatia, from the noble family of Wettin.. He was born as the second son of Margrave Otto the Rich and Hedwig of Ballenstedt.

Life

With his older brother Albrecht the Proud, he was estranged because his mother persuaded the father to change the succession to the effect that the Margraviate of Meissen Dietrich, Albrecht, however - although the older son - the county Weissenfels should receive. Dietrich the Harried died in 1221 and was buried in the monastery house of Wettin in Altzella.
