Thomas Cruise (footballer)

Thomas Daniel Cruise ( born March 9, 1991, Islington, London ) is an English footballer who is since June 2012 at Torquay United. Cruise is used as a central defender, but also as a left-back and as a left midfielder.

Thomas Cruise came on 31 July 2007 as a student in the youth academy of Arsenal FC. In November 2007 he made his debut in Arsenal's reserve team. With the Academy team, he won the FA Youth Cup in 2008 /09. On 9 December 2009, the Arsenal was qualified in Group H already for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League 2009/10. Therefore, coach Arsène Wenger for the last group game against Olympiakos Piraeus a lot of young homegrown players from the reserve team. So he came to his first pro game, which he played a full 90 minutes. On 3 November 2010 he was loaned for one month to the Football League One club Carlisle United. After three league games and a game in the FA Cup, he returned to Arsenal. Cruise, however, was released in June 2011 along with two other players in the reserve team of his contract and has been without a club. After discharge, he graduated from tryouts at Sampdoria, Scunthorpe United and New England Revolution of Major League Soccer.

On June 28, 2012, he signed a one - year contract with the fourth division Torquay United.

National

From 2006 to 2007, he completed eight games for the English U-16 national team. In 2007 he was nominated for the U-17 national team. In October he played twice in the first qualifying round of the U-17 Football Championship in 2008, missed the second qualifying round in March 2008 due to injury. In the U -19 was one of the team that reached the semifinals of the 2010 U-19 Football Championship and thus for the Junior World Cup 2011 qualifying in Colombia.
