Thomas Rath
Thomas Rath ( born July 26, 1970 in Schwedt / Oder ) is a former German football player. He played in both the communications and the DFB - game operation in the top division and was DFV and DFB junior national team.

Rath came in 1987 as a 17 -year-old from the Sports Association (SPA ) Chemistry PCK Schwedt to junior league team FC Vorwärts Frankfurt (Oder), the football focus of the GDR Army Sports Club forward. In the 1987/88 season but was used already in the men's field, he completed seven matches of the second team of FCV in the second-rate DDR -Liga. Early 1988, Rath was included in the squad of the GDR junior national team. After 1988, he had two U-18 matches contested, he was one of 1989 DDR squad for the Junior World Cup in Saudi Arabia. In the seasons 1988/89 and 1989/ 90, the first team of FC forward also had to play in the East League after relegation from the DDR - Oberliga. In this time of 1,90 m wide Rath played 59 second division games for the Frankfurt as the nominal striker, in which he scored 17 goals. After the 1990 FCV had managed to return to the Oberliga, Rath was in the last season the league in 1990/91 to player trunk of the FC forward, who still restructured during the season in the civilian Frankfurter FC Viktoria. Already on 1 Oberliga Gameday denied counsel, the first top-flight of his career. In the encounter FC forward - Hallescher FC ( 3:3 ), he was employed as a left striker and scored after 23 minutes his first Oberligator. 2nd and 1st Bundesliga
For the 1991/92 season he joined the second division side Hertha BSC Berlin. Even with the Berliners was Rath 1 Gameday at the starting eleven. Under the ex- Jena coach Bernd Stange, he played 28 of 32 league games in the 2nd Bundesliga, where he came up with five goals. On 15 October 1991 Rath came in the U-21 match Germany - Morocco ( 2-0) once again to an international application. In 42 minutes he scored the 1-0. After just one season in Rath moved to Berlin 1992/93 season to Dynamo Dresden in the 1st Bundesliga. He remained there for three seasons, mainly as a midfielder completed 75 of 118 discharged point games and scored six goals. In the seasons 1995/96 and 1996/97 Rath played for Bundesliga side SC Freiburg. In the best football age he was there with a total of 36 point game inserts only a substitute, because he played only ten meetings over the full playing time and was also only 19 times in the starting lineup. In each of the two seasons he scored a goal. His career as a professional football player Rath decided in the 1997/98 season the second division club VfB Leipzig, where he still came to three short-term assignments between the 1st and 12th matchday. Because of a damaged Achilles tendon he was in late 1999 at the age of 29 years to the sport disability.
