Thomas W. Templeton

Thomas Weir Templeton ( born November 8, 1867 in Plymouth, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania, † September 5, 1935 ) was an American politician. Between 1917 and 1919 he represented the State of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Thomas Templeton attended the common schools and Wyoming Seminary in Kingston. He studied law and was admitted to the bar in 1899, but has not practiced in this profession. Instead, he worked as a florist. Between 1904 and 1907 he was employed as Prothonotary in the management in Luzerne County. Politically, he was a member of the Republican Party.

In the congressional elections of 1916, Templeton was the eleventh electoral district of Pennsylvania in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he succeeded the Democrat John J. Casey took on 4 March 1917 that he had beaten in the election. Since he resigned in 1918 to further candidacy, he was able to complete only one term in Congress until March 3, 1919. This was marked by the events of the First World War.

After the end of his time in the U.S. House of Representatives, Thomas Templeton operated again as a florist. Between 1920 and 1923 he was also chief administrator of the estate of the Pennsylvania State Capitol. He died on September 5, 1935 in his native Plymouth.
