Thomas Y. Howe, Jr.

Thomas Y. Howe Jr. (* 1801 in Auburn, New York, † July 15, 1860 ) was an American lawyer and politician. Between 1851 and 1853 he represented the State of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

Thomas Howe completed his preliminary studies. Between 1834 and 1838 he was inspector in Auburn Prison. He was elected to the guardianship and estate judge in Cayuga County - a post he held on 18 March 1836 to 14 April 1840. Politically, he was a member of the Democratic Party. In the congressional elections of 1850 for the 32nd Congress Howe was in the 25th electoral district of New York in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Harmon S. Conger on March 4, 1851. He retired after the March 3, 1853 out of the Congress. After his conference time he became mayor in Auburn and held the position from March 1853 to March 1854. He died about a year before the outbreak of the civil war in Auburn and was buried at Fort Hill Cemetery.
