Thorbjørn Egner

Thorbjørn Egner ( born December 12, 1912 in Kristiania (now Oslo), † December 24, 1990 in Oslo ) was a Norwegian children's book author and illustrator.

Life

Thorbjørn Egner grew up in Oslo in Kampen. Trained as a draftsman, he worked for a time as an advertising artist. As a children's book author, he gained national importance mainly with Karius and Baktus. The book is now one of the children's book classics, which was also filmed several times. He illustrated many of his books himself He was also active as a composer.

Christmas 1990 succumbed to Thorbjørn Egner at the age of 78 years a massive heart attack. He left behind a wife and four children.
