Three Hundred Tang Poems

The Three Hundred Tang Poems (Chinese唐诗 三百首, Pinyin Tangshi sanbai shǒu ) are a standard selection of poems from the Tang Dynasty, the 1763/64 Sun Zhu ( 1711-1778 ) was compiled. Exactly, there are 310 poems.

History

The all Tang Poems ( Quan Tangshi ), 1705-1707 compiled by order of the Kangxi Emperor, contained nearly 49,000 poems and were so unsuitable for practical purposes.

The limitation to 300 poems goes back to the Book of Songs ( Shijing ) with 305 songs.

Content

Are represented in the collection of 74 well-known poet of the Tang period. You are the best represented in Fu, Li Bai and Wang Wei. The selection criteria are not without controversy, but this collection had enormous influence on the visibility of certain poets and remains widely used in high volumes.

The texts belong to this day in China for general educational heritage.
