Tichý Potok

Tichý Potok ( until 1948 slovak " Štelbach "; German parking Bach, Hungarian Csendespatak - to 1902 Stelbach ) is a municipality in Okres Sabinov in Slovakia with 342 (as of 31 December 2011).

Geography

The municipality is located on the eastern slope of the Levočské mountains at an altitude of 520 m nm and is 28 kilometers by road from Sabinov away.

After the abolition of the Military District Javorina early 2011, the township the cadastral Blazov was slammed and increases the community area of ​​some 8.5 sq km to 62.6 km ².

History

The first mention was made in 1427 as a property of the nobles Berzeviczy and Tarcsay, the name goes back to German settlers. In the 15th century brought to Vlachs settled in the village and brought the Orthodox religion, but later settled mainly Ruthenian inhabitants and assimilated the German population completely. The original Gothic church from the 14th century, was rebuilt in the 17th and 19th century in its present appearance. 1844, 1908, 1922 and 1956, the town was devastated by severe flooding.
