Tigerair Mandala

Tigerair Mandala ( company name Mandala Airlines ) is an Indonesian airline based in Jakarta and base on the Jakarta airport.

History

Mandala Airlines was founded in 1969 and started flight operations in the same year. The airline is one of Yayasan Dharma Putra Kostrad 90 percent, the remaining 10 percent are distributed between Dharma Kencana, Sakti and Nusamba. The company has 1322 employees. Mandala is a member of the transferable ticket system of the Indonesian National Air Carriers Association, which allows passengers to use their tickets at each of the participating transport companies. She is since 2006 owned by the Indonesian Investment Company Indigo Partners and Cardig International.

In August 2007, the airline was set along with all Indonesian airlines on the list of operating bans for the airspace of the European Union. This ban was lifted with the updated list of 2009.

On 13 January 2011, the air traffic was suspended. The reason for a necessary restructuring was called because of high debt. On April 5, 2012, the operations were resumed with a reduced fleet. The necessary capital is earned by selling a 33 percent stake in the company to the Tiger Airways Group. This has since been responsible for operations and changed on 3 July 2013, the marketing name Mandala Airlines to Tigerair mandala.

Accidents

On 5 September 2005 crashed a Boeing 737-200 of Mandala Airlines shortly after taking off from Polonia airport in Medan in a nearby residential area. 166 people were killed, including 47 people on the ground. The crashed plane it was the PK -RIM. This machine was previously in service with Lufthansa (D - ABHK ) and the Tunisair (TF - ABY ).
