Tiiu Aro

Tiiu Aro ( born June 18, 1952 in Kingissepa, today Kuressaare ) is an Estonian politician and doctor.

Life and health policies

Tiiu Aro graduated in 1976 her medical studies at the State University of Tartu. From 1986 to 1996 she was employed as a doctor in the gynecological department of the University Hospital of Tartu.

After regaining independence Estonia they became politically active in the liberal Estonian Coalition Party ( Eesti Koonderakond ). 2 December 1996 to 17 March 1997, Aro Social Affairs in the Cabinet of Prime Minister Tiit Vähi. The same office she held from then until 25 March 1999, the Cabinet of Prime Minister Mart Siimann.

From 1999 to 2009 Aro was head of the Estonian Office of Health. Since 1 January 2010 Aro is President of the Estonian Health Department.
