Tim Ahearne

Tim Ahearne (actually Timothy Joseph Ahearne; born August 18, 1885 in Athea, County Limerick, Ireland today, † November 1968 ) was an Irish athlete, who competed for the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland.

At the Olympic Games in London in 1908 he competed in four disciplines. In the standing long jump and 110- meter hurdles, he did not reach the final. In the long jump he was eighth with 6.72 meters. The competition in the triple jump with 14.92 meters and he won 16 centimeters ahead of second-placed Garfield MacDonald, an Irish emigrant to Canada.

Tim Ahearne was 1.70 m tall and weighed 57 kg in his playing days. He grew up with his younger brother Dan Ahearn on in Ireland. Dan emigrated in 1909 from the United States and emphasized at the immigration, the e at the end of his name. Tim followed his brother to later.
